The dust has settled on VYL Season 2, and what a campaign it was. We look back at the moments, the matches, and the milestones that made Season 2 the most successful youth football league in recent Indian football history.
Season 2: The Numbers
VYL Season 2 was an extraordinary chapter in the story of Veeran Youth League. Here are the numbers that tell the story:
- 48 teams from 12 cities participated
- 312 matches played across all age categories
- 1,400+ players registered and competing
- 89 goals scored in the knockout rounds alone
- 6 age categories from U8 to U16
The Road to the Final
No journey to the championship is ever straight. The knockout stages saw dramatic last-gasp goals, penalty shootouts that had everyone on the edge of their seats, and underdog stories that captured the imagination of Indian youth football fans.
The semi-finals were particularly memorable:
- U12 Semi-Final: A stunning hat-trick in the final 10 minutes overturned a 2-0 deficit
- U16 Semi-Final: A goalkeeping masterclass that kept a clean sheet against a team that had scored 26 goals in the group stage
Champions Crowned
The VYL Season 2 champions were crowned in a spectacular Grand Finale event attended by hundreds of parents, coaches, and football development officers. The trophy presentation was a moment of pure joy for the winning players.
Player of the Tournament
Our coaching panel selected the Player of the Tournament across each age category based on contributions throughout the season, not just the final. These young athletes demonstrated the highest standards of skill, sportsmanship, and determination.
Looking Ahead: Season 3
Building on the incredible success of Season 2, VYL Season 3 planning is already underway. We aim to expand to more cities, add new age categories, and continue raising the bar for organised youth football in India.
Thank you to every player, coach, parent, and fan who made VYL Season 2 something truly special!
